"Sumner" Band - "No Time To Stop" Live Set @ Madame Wong's in China Town, Los Angeles, 5-31-1980 on DVD now on YouTube

"Near the end of the 1970's we had started a band. Music was changing. New Wave, Punk and bands you could not put your finger on were starting to cover the air waves. We never tried to be like other bands cause we were having too much fun being ourselves. What a great time it was. If you lived in L.A. you might have seen us. If you were a fan all the better.

These recordings were made on May 31,1980 at Madame Wong's in China Town near the heart of Los Angeles. The video part may give you an idea of who we were and the music we loved. The music on this was all original, written by Sumner Mering our front man. We all worked together to bring it to life. I hope you like it, I hope you were there."
Robert Louis DiChiro (Bass Player of Sumner band)

Sumner Mering is the father of Natalie Mering (Weyes Blood), Ean Mering & Zak Mering (Raw Thrills).  This is his band from the late seventies and this live recording is way better then the album recordings that Asylum/Elektra released.  This was never released until this past year, Robert Louis DiChiro, the bass player made this on DVD and uploaded it to youtube, so def check it out.  Sumner band comprised of Sumner on lead vocals and guitar, Larry Treadwell on lead guitars, Robert Louis DiChiro on bass, Novi Novog on electric viola and Keys, and Mark Sanders on drums.  There are also studio recordings that are better then the album version of recordings that can be found @ https://sumner.bandcamp.com/ .  The Sumner band played hundreds of shows from 1978-1982 and were signed to Asylum Elektra in the late seventies.  Check it out!

  1. Fantastic! What a talented group of Merings the Earth has been blessed with! I'd forgotten Madame Wongs. Certainly, I cannot be the only "Sumner" fan to find this page. No time to stop! What great work even now. Fresh and fun. Upbeat and great Live, of course. Thank you for this tribute! Roslyn
